About Wallsend District Cricket Club Tigers
Established in 1925, the Wallsend District Cricket Club Tigers stand proud as the second oldest club in the Newcastle District Cricket Association. Rooted deeply in our local community, we are committed to positively impacting and fostering a spirit of excellence and camaraderie.
Our Tigers have roared to great heights, with the 2022-23 season seeing our 1st-grade team clinch both the Major and Minor Premierships, a testament to our competitive spirit and dedication to the sport.
With a nearly a century history, our club has been a cradle for cricketing talent, producing numerous players who have gone on to represent Newcastle, regional teams, and even the state. A notable alumnus is Jason Sangha, a former Australian U/19 Captain and a current NSW Blues and Sydney Thunder member.
The Tigers boast a robust lineup of teams, fielding seven men's sides from 1st to 4th Grade in the NDCA Grade Competition and three in the NDCA Suburban Districts Competition. In a groundbreaking move for the 2022-23 season, we launched a women's program, introducing a team into the NDCA lady's competition, which achieved great success in its inaugural year.
Our commitment to nurturing young talent is underscored by our thriving junior program, which supports two Newcastle Junior Cricket Competition teams. Furthermore, our U/21 and Masters (over 35s) teams bring our club roster to over 120 players, each bringing their passion and skills to the field.
Join us at Wallsend District Cricket Club Tigers, where tradition meets ambition and community spirit thrive on and off the cricket field.
